Certification Process

1) Send production samples, 25% prepay
2) Pre-testing
3) Full testing of all parameters
4) Factory inspection and evaluation
5) Documentation

Pre-testing is included in the 25% prepay. At any point, failing to meet the requirements will result in no extra costs, and new improved cable can be re-sent without additional costs.

The 3P cable qualifications include the following performance characteristics.

• Electrical transmission performance
• Fire safety performance
• Installation stability performance
• Mechanical performance of cable and materials
• Temperature performance of cable and materials
• Material performance

The 3P cable qualification programme is presently covering five different cable ratings which will later be extended with four new ratings giving a total of 9 ratings.

Safety of cables is a key issue for producers and users of cabling, both with respect to personal safety and to equipment protection (corrosion) in case of fire.

Presently the safety issue only concerns cables, but in the future 3P believes that also connecting hardware will be the target of the safety regulations.
