The terms "De-Embedded" and "Pyramide Testing"
There seems to be some confusion about the terms "De-embedded" and "Pyramide Testing" when, in fact, no "Hokus Pokus" is connected with these words. The word "De-embedded" is widely used to give the impression of some special quality of performance of connecting hardware. In reality it is far from being that. It is the name of the applied test method for qualifiying plugs being used for testing of Category 5e and Category 6 connecting hardware. Only the original Category 5 connecting hardware is not tested using de-embedded test plugs. In the same way som companies use the word "Pyramide Testing" to give an impression of super quality. In fact, it has nothing to do with special performance. Pyramides are always used when measuring connecting hardware for the purpose of impedance stabilization. |
