Each balun will be supplied to the customer with documentation for insertion loss, return loss and balance in the complete frequency range from 10 MHz to 1 GHz of the balun in question. Measurements over 300 MHz are often poorly performed and concluded by many producers and test laboratories due to missing operator experience in the specialized field of high bandwidth copper cabling testing. Such false conclusion of testing is often not recognized by involved parties. To avoid this problem simple guidelines on how to perform true Cat. 7 testing will be provided with the baluns. Characteristic data for the performance of the baluns type 3P-600-Cat7 are presented in table 1 , while typical recordings of insertion loss, return loss and balance from 10 MHz to 1 GHz are presented separately. A variation of 6 dB between the different test methods is often found. The 3P recorded balance test data are measured under worst case conditions. Test set-up is available from 3P upon request.
